Heroes And Protecters (for Nolee)

Carter shook his head, "Thats the lowest thing for a hero to do to a fellow hero. I'm not a monster, regardless of what you might think...." Carter knew many others in the super hero society considered him as a monster for his harsh battle tactics and ruthless nature. Nolee whimpered as the men in labcoats drew her blood. She had been being treated for the "disease" that made her super humanly smart since she was 16. Being cooped up in a small cell that the men called a room was not her idea of fun but they told her it was for the best. As they left, she flicked the television on to the Disney channel with a simple blink of her eyes.

"I'm sorry, i don't think your a monster." Jay said softly. Brett stared at the computer across his room as he slowly searched the intrenet.

"Cut the crap. I'm a fuckin' animal they need to lock up in a cage, everybody says it." Carter snorted. Nolee giggled at the show that was on, So Random! Sure she had more smarts than most grown men and women but she indulged in childhood cares.

Jay shook his head. "Nobody deserves to be caged up and your not a animal." Jay said softly. Brett heard the laughter in the room next to him "Hello?"

Carter sighed, "Glad yeh think so." He slowly removed his mask, "Names Carter Lacroix." Nolee jumped when she heard the voice say hello. "Hi...where are you?"

Jay pulled his hood back. "Jay Reso." "I'm in the room next too you." Brett answered.

"Thought we established that." Nolee went to the wall, "Who...who are you?"

Jay blushed slightly. "Sorry. So want do we do now that we both know who we are?" "I'm Brett." Brett answered.

"I guess we have no choice but to team up." Carter shrugged. "Why did they put you here Brett? I'm Nolee."

Jay nodded before asking. "Do you want to work here or at your base?" Brett sighed. "I'm here because having powers is a sickness."

"My base is a whole hell of a lot more secluded." Carter laughed. Nolee faintly smiled, "You have powers? So do I. They tell me I'm to smart for my own good."

"Yeah i know my base loction sucks but its the only place i could find at the time." Jay replied softly. Brett smiled softly as changed the channel on her tv.

"Hey, don't be upset." Carter frowned. Nolee giggled, "Your a technopath."

"Sorry." Jay said before he taking a deep breath and allowing his plant to calm himself. He then smile at Carter. Brett smiled. "Yep."

"Why don't you tell me whats really bothering you?" Nolee frowned, "How old were you when they found you?"

"Sorry it just that it always feels like everyone discounts me as an able hero because of my powers." "I was 17." Brett answered.

"When I call yeh plant boy I mean no disrespect!" Carter said. "I was 16." Nolee sighed. "The was 5 years, 6 months, and seven days ago."

"I know i'm sorry i get defencive." Jay said. "Beside i think your diffrent from the others." I don't know how long i've been here." Brett said.

"Yeah, for starters I get the connection to nature." Nolee frowned, "They don't bring you a cake on your birthday? It's a simple algorithim to figure out how long you've been here from how many cakes you've had, times the number of minutes in an hour."

Jay smiled. "I've never meet anyone else that did." Brett shook his head. "I was kept sadated for a while.

Carter smiled, "What made yeh get into this line of work?" Nolee ran a hand through her hair, "Sedated? Why? Technopaths aren't that powerful."

"I lost my family to a monster attack, so when i got my powers i decided thos was what i was meant to do." Jay answered. "Because i tried to kill myself." Brett answered.

"My...my sister and I wanted to help people." Carter sighed. "The costume was her idea..." Nolee frowned, "Why? They want to make us better!"

"What happened to your sister?" Jay asked softly. "We're not sick, these powers are gifts and they want to take them away."

Carter bit his lip, "Some government officials kidnapped her...she's..." Nolee frowned, "A gift? But...I was told..."
