"My grandma use to tell me about all the really rare plants that used to grow a lot aroung this area but now their all gone." Jay said sadly.

Carter frowned, "I'm sorry to tell yeh but it ain't no better fer animals."

"I hate the city." Jay said softly as he shook his head. "If it wasn't for the joy i know people get from my plants and flowers i'd leave."

"There's a reason I don't live in the city. Men are the worst animal of all." Carter frowned.

"Men many be the worst but there are good people out there." Jay replied.

"Very few," Carter frowned, "Yer the only good person I know."

Jay fought back a soft blush, he didn't know how to respaned to Carter.

Carter looked at him, "Yeh hungry? I can fix us up somethin' to eat."

Jay nodded. "Yeah sounds good."

Carter went into the kitchen, fixing up some deer meat, "Yer not a vegetarian are yeh?"

Jay shook his head. "No i eat meat."

Carter nodded, "Ever had deer meat before? I hunt it myself. Don't worry, I use all parts of the animal, like nature intended."

Jay shook his head, "No never had deer meat before."

"It's good but I ain't gonna bullshit yeh and tell yeh it taste like chicken cuz it don't," smirked Carter, tossing a bit of the raw deer meat to the wolf cub who was lounging on the floor.

Jay chuckled. "I didn't think it would taste like chicken consitering it deer."

"A lotta people say different meats taste like chicken. That's crap. Chicken is the only thing that tastes like chicken. Every meat has it's own taste, both raw and well prepared," Carter said. When he was a boy he had lived as a wolf for a few months. He knew the taste of raw meat all to well. It wasn't gross to him, it was survival.

Jay nodded as he listened to Carter talk.

"Yer not real talkative are yeh?" Carter asked as he sat down Jay's plate.

"I guess not i mean i normally spend most of my time protecting people or careing for my plants for the shop." Jay said.

Carter nodded, "I spend a lot of time to myself as well."

"It must be nice having all this peace out here." Jay replied softly.

"Sometimes. Sis use to live with me out here. We divided the work between us. But...well...when she got captured I lost hope. I lost sight of what we were working towards. She wanted a little farm out here in the middle of the woods."

"I'm soory you lost your sister." Jay said softly. He suddenly jumped at the sound of thunder.

"I'll get her back when yeh get yer friend back," Carter smiled, "Don't be afraid, just rain. Most plants tend to need water too."

"No i like rain, its thunder i don't lik..." Jay started to say with a blush before jumping again at another crash of thunder.
