Life As We All Knew It

Randy woke up a little while later, and looked at John. "Baby? You okay?" he asked quietly as he sat up.

"Y-Yes..." John whispered, pulling the covers tight over himself, trying to get warm.

"No you aren't. Don't lie to me. We're going to the hospital," Randy said and picked John up, walking out to the car.

John found it hard to breath, his skin turning red as he started to sweat. but he was still cold. "C-Can't... b-breath..." He coughed out, spitting up more blood.

Randy put John in the car and sped to the hospital, pulling John out and running inside when he got there. "I need help!" he yelled frantically, setting John down when they brought a gurney.

John was rushed to the back and into isolation as they worked n him. They stabilized him after a half hour before the Doctor went to speak to Randy. "Mr. Orton?" He called.

"That's me," Randy reied immediately, standing up and looking at the doctor. He was so worried.

The Doctor sighed. "Well Mr. Orton, John has pneumonia. He's in isolation right now and we're checking to see what type he has. He's stable for now, but very weak." He explained to Randy.

"Oh, thank God," Randy sighed in relief. They weren't out of the woods yet, but it wasn't HIV or anything like that.

"But still, it depends on what kind he has. Pneumonia can kill. And he's in pretty bad shape. But he's a strong man, and personally, I think he'll pull through. You can see him through the window, but you can't go into the room." The doc said.

Randy nodded. He knew pneumonia could kill. But he knew more people lived through pneumonia than many other diseases out there.

The Doctor nodded and led Randy to the isolation room so he could se John through the window. John was passed out, looking pale and weak as can be. Te Doctor sighed. "The disease is more deadly because of his pregnancy. The fetus, so far, is fine but it's also taking all of John's energy." The Doc said.

Randy nodded as he stared at John. He couldn't believe that this was happening. His baby was sick, and little Randy Jr was at risk. He hoped that everything turned out okay.

John groaned a little as he drifted out of comsciousness. "Randy..." Softly. He glanced around. He was in a white room, all by himself. Isolation. He groaned again. He hated isolation.

Randy saw that John was awake. "He's awake!" he said, looking at the doctor.

The doctor looked and immediately went into the room after putting on a medical mask to cover his nose and mouth. He took a few tests and asked some questions before going to get John's test results. When he read them, he went to talk to Randy. "The tests says he has bacterial pneumonia. Now that we know what type he is we can start treating him better.

Randy nodded. "Is he gonna be okay?" he asked quietly.

The Doctor sighed. "It depends on how bad the virus gets. Right now though, he's stable." He replied.

Randy nodded again. "Thank you," he said quietly, looking back through the window at John.

John looked up and saw Randy through the window. "Randy..." He whimpered weakly.

Randy sighed as his eyes connected with John's. He put his hand on the window, an attempt to reach out to him, but it only reminded him of how unreachable he was at the moment.

John whimpered again, a few tears falling down his cheeks. He wanted his husband. To have Randy hold his hand. To climb in and bed and hold John and make the pain go away like only Randy could... but he couldn't this time.

Randy's heart broke when he saw tears fall from John's eyes. He hated seeing John like this. He never wanted his baby to be sad.

The Doctor bit his lip as he looked at the couple. "Mr. Orton... you can pay for a pneumonia vaccination, and after 48 hours, you could go in there." He said.

Randy looked at him. "Really?" he asked, his face brightening up a bit.
