"We can do this..." Carter nodded to himself, breathing slowing.

Nolee frowned, "I had a bad run in with Wade Calloway is all..."

Ted smirked at Carter. "How about we take our minds off this, yeah?"

Jace nodded. "I understand."

Carter smirked back, "How?"

Nolee sighed, "Look...I have an apartment to get back to..."

Ted smirked. "Oh, I think you know how," he whispered.

Jace nodded. "Want me to drive you?"

Carter smirked, "We ain't even had our first date yet."

Nolee smiled, "If you want."

"Who said anything about dating?" Ted teased.

Jace smiled and stood up. "Let's go."

Carter looked almost furious, "I ain't a fuck and dump kinda man!"

Nolee smiled at Jace, walking close, "I'll count this as you paying my dry cleaning."

"Whoa, whoa, I was just teasing!" Ted said. "Calm down."

"Thanks," Jace chuckled and grabbed her hand.

Carter sighed, "Sorry it's just...I..."

Nolee smiled, blushing a bit when Jace took her hand. She silently reminded herself what happened the last time she got close to a man and pulls her hand away. "Sorry I just...I can't..."

"That was a little forward to say. Sorry," Ted said, smiling slightly. "But I would like to go on a date... If you would," he added with a shy grin.

"That is fine," Jace said, hooking his hands behind his back. "Was... Is it me?"

"That I can do," smirked Carter.

Nolee shook her head, "No! It's just...I don't have a good track record when it comes to boys..."

Ted smiled, standing up. "Then let's go," he said, holding out his hand.

"Oh," Jace said quietly.

Carter smiled, "Where are we goin?"

Nolee nodded, "I...I was with Wade Calloway..."

"To dinner," Ted said with a smirk.

"Oh," Jace said, not really sure how to react to that.

Carter nodded, "And where are we goin' to eat at?"


Nolee frowned, "I didn't know who he was. He disguised himself as an English boxer named Wade Barett..."

"Casey's," Ted replied with a smile.

"I'm sorry," Jace said, frowning.

"Don't think I've ever been there," Carter smiled, "Do I gotta change into somethin' nice?"

Nolee sighed, "Wasn't anyones fault but my own."

Ted looked at his attire. "No, that's fine," he said.

Jace took her hand again. "Well, I am not him," he said quietly.

Carter smiled, brushing off his plaid button up shirt and straightening his hat. "Thank yeh."

Nolee smiled, "I can tell Jace. You...you didn't push me against the car as soon as we were out of there..."

Ted smiled and got in the driver's seat of his car.

"Well, I was thinking about it..." Jace teased lightheartedly with a smile.

Carter smirked, "Yeh drive a Bentley...why doesn't it surprise me with the niceness of yer suit..."

Nolee looked at him, "O...oh..."

"I like nice things," Ted smirked, starting the car up.

"I was kidding, Nols," Jace said.

Carter laughed, "Makes sense why yeh like me then. I'm one of the nicest men yer ever gonna meet."

Nolee smiled, "So. Jace, where are you from?"

Ted smiled. "Pretty damn sexy, too," he flirted.

"San Fernando Valley," Jace replied.

"Not near as sexy as yeh," Carter smiled. As he looked out the window, he frowned, "The one thing I don't like about New York....the fact that when I look out there, I can't see the greenry, the beauty."

Nolee smiled, "That must be nice."
