My Kinda Party

"Just a lil bit..." John murmured, drifting off to sleep.

Carter kissed his temple, holding him as he fell asleep.

John awoke an hour later to the loud, obnoxious ringing of his phone. he groaned, having to scramble and crawl over Carter, waking him up as John answered his phone.

Carter turned onto his side, "Babe...whats going on? Everything okay?"

"What?" He answered into the phone. Then, he abruptly sat upright. "I'm sorry Mommy, I'm just tired... I know Mommy but I... I know that's not how you taught me to answer the phone... Yes, Mommy, I know..." John sighed, looking and feeling like a scolded child as he played with a strand of his hair.

Carter chuckled, listening to John on the phone. He kissed John's shoulder blade and rested his head on John's shoulder.

John sighed and leaned into Carter. "Mommy I'm engaged.... No, he's not a cradle robber!.... Not a gold digger either.... No Mommy, not either of them... he's from the south, his name is Carter Lacroix.... Mommy! Yes, I'm sure he's clean!.... Mommy, you enjoy embarrassing me over the phone...." He muttered, his face bright red.

Carter suddenly felt very self concious. He didn't want to seem imperfect to John's mother.

"Mom, he's as much as a gentleman as a man can get..." John said with a smile. "Yes Mommy... shit, no don't put-... Hi Daddy." He said in almost a whisper. "Yes Daddy, I am... His name is Carter.... yes, he treats me right..." John suddenly smiled. "Thank you Daddy... tomorrow? Okay." He said and turned to Carter. "Wanna go to my parents house tomorrow?" He asked.

"Do I wanna? No. Will I? Of course," Carter smiled.

John chuckled. "Yes Daddy, he'll go... see you then... I love you too." He said before hanging up. "Don't worry. My Mom's easy, it's my father who's the tough one... he's a retired General. And my Uncle is a retired Admiral. They are both protective of me." He said.

"Great, I'm fucked,' Carter said.

"Nooo, just... turn on the southern charm." John chuckled.

Carter laughed, "I don't have a southern charm fit for parents."

John blinked. "Well, just treat me right and they'll love you..." He mumbled against his chest.

Carter smiled, "I don't know how anyone could mistreat my L.A. Angel."

John smiled softly. "You are to good to me. And maybe I deserved what i gotten from past boyfriends..." He sighed, looking down, his hair falling in his face.

"I'm as good to yeh as yeh deserve," Carter smiled, "and who the hell could hurt someone like yeh?":

"I told you, quite a few men. People have slapped me around, treated me like shit, said hurtful things. Everybody has a bad boyfriend in their life. I just... have had a few bad boyfriends." John said.

"I will never hurt yeh like that so yeh never have to worry again," Carter smiled.

John smiled. "I love you so fucking much. Like... I don't have words, to describe it." He said, attacking Carter with kisses.

Carter laughed, "Hearin' I love yeh once in a while is good fer me."

"Good, 'cause I plan on sayin' it every day, since you love my voice so much..." John chuckled.

Carter smirked, "Good. Because if yeh didn't tell me yeh loved me, I might go into a horrid depression...'

John smiled sadly. "Well, I'm not gonna let that happen. I'm an overly happy and easily excitable person... no one gets depressed around me unless I'm having an emotional breakdown." He chuckled.
