By the Light of the Neon Moon

"A-Are you going.... Are you going to get into trouble because i know?" Phil asked worriedly, the thought of something happening to Kevin scared him more then anything. Phil bit his lip softly as he lightly squeezed the hand that Kevin held.

Kevin shook his head, a tiny smile crossing his lips. "No. There is no one I have to report to. There is no den of Vampires were we live. It is solely up to me who I reveal myself too." He looks down for a moment, his voice low. "Understand Phil that under normal circumstances I would have lied and made something up about my canines are so sharp. But there is something..that is keeping me from lying to you." He looks back up, bringing Phils' hand to his lips, completely blown away by his reaction to the dark haired man and praying that he'd not done the wrong thing by revealing himself so readily to him.

Phil listened to to Kevin's words as he looked into his eyes. He bit his lip, did this mean Kevin felt the connetion too. Phil had to know but he was afraid of the answer, afraid of rejection from Kevin. "Does this mean.... I-I mean do you.... Do you feel the connetion too?" Phil asked softly, bracing himself for the rejection he was sure to come.

"Connection? If you're speaking about the pull I feel to you, the want to protect you, to wake up to you every morning....then yes I feel it. But if that's not what you're saying, then I don't know Phil."

Kevin looked down and away, unbelieving that he was laying his cards out on the table so quickly and then even more aghast that he honestly didn't care.

Phil felt his hope grow a little, Kevin felt the pull too. Phil bit his lip ring softly before stepping close and asking softly. "So where do we go from here Kevin?" Phil swallowed softly, his nervousness coming back in spades.

Kevin rubbed the back of his neck, looking around. He'd never really had to deal with this before so the feelings were all foreign to him and he actually hated the vulnerable feeling that seeping into him so he mumbled as he looked everywhere but at Phil.

"I don't know Phil, I've...uh. Never had to do this before....if you catch my drift."

Phil bit his lip softly and nodded slowly, "Maybe i should g-go, let you have some time to think." He said softly. Maybe Kevin regreted telling him, Phil thought worriedly. Phil looked down at his hands wondering what to do now.

Kevin brought his head up and pinned Phil with a look. "Time to think? It's not me that needs the time to think Phil. It's you. To my kind you're a meal. I came on to you to feed from you, but then....dammit we're not supposed to have feelings for our food."

His lips pursed in to a thin line; suddenly angry at himself for letting feelings get in the way. Quicker than the blink of an eye he grabbed Phil close and buried his nose in the crook of Phil's neck, the need to bite so strong but being unable to actually open his mouth to do anything about it.

with a deep growl he moved away from Phil, scowling hard at him. "It would be in your best interest Punk to stay away from me. Who knows when I might decide to take a bite out of you." He didn't say anything else; he just turned and went back into the bar; hating the pang of pain that suddenly shot through him at leaving Phil standing outside.

Phil was shaking softly as he watched Kevin leave after almost bitting him. He couldn't believe it, he was only food to Kevin. Phil slide down the wall and pulled his knees up to his chest. He didn't know what to do now.
~Two weeks later~
Phil was back in the bar again, he'd been trying to get Kevin to talk to him. But it was all for nothing Kevin wouldn't even look at him, he'd even got Phil thrown out a few times. Phil finally got to the point if not caring about himself anymore. He'd let any of the drunk guys touch him, use him and even hurt him. Phil didn't care anymore, Kevin didn't so why should he.

Kevin watched Phil; even though the young man thought he wasn't and it was killing him to watch Phil let those in the bar use and abuse him. Many times he wanted he grab the ravenette and haul him out of the dimly lit bar and take him back home and try to choke some sense into him. However he kept to himself, trying to still kill the strong feelings he had for Phil.

That proved fruitless as the next time he'd seen Phil the jealous rage that had been building had finally boiled over and he practically leaped over the bar and landed on the falling down drunk man that was pawing at Phil. The stale smell of alcohol that drifted out of the man's mouth as he went down made his nose cringe and snarled as he aimed a powerful right hook to the man's chin and put him under immediately.

Then quickly he turned and grabbed Phil by the arm and left the bar; pulling him over to the park where they first talked and after frightening a couple from the park bench sat; pulling Phil into his lap and glaring at him.

"What the hell is wrong with you? Don't you have any common sense?"

He really wanted to be mad, he fought hard to stay mad but in the end he just gathered Phil close and nuzzled his neck, as close to tears as he'd been in nearly two centuries.

"Don't you know how hurt you could have been? Or how much it's killing me to see you do this to yourself?"

Phil had watched quietly as Kevin attacked the man that had been feeling him up, he show'd no emotion as he watched. He long since locked his emotions away and had settled into a safe numbness. He just followed quietly as Kevin pulled him to the park. He didn't answer Kevin's angry questions, and he froze up at Kevin close embrace. "Why do you care?" Phil asked numbly. "Your the one that said i was just food." Phil swallowed hard as the numb feeling started to disappear and his emotions return. "You saw i was hurt, i was in pain. You made the pain go away, made me feel happy again. And then you hurt me worse then colt did. You abandoned me and when i finally managed to force myself to not feel, you act like you care." Phil felt tears sting his eyes and he looked away.

"I-I...." Kevin wanted to deny that he abandoned Phil but he had. Then only thing that wasn't true was that he didn't care. "I do care Phil, I care more than I should. Dammit Phil, I'm a Vampire. You're supposed to be afraid of me. I'm the thing of nightmares Phil! How can you sit here and tell me that you don't feel the slightest bit of fear when you look at me..." He opens his mouth and takes on of Phil's fingers and runs it over the sharp fang; being careful not to slice into the finger and cause it to bleed. "That right there Phil, means you should fear me and gives all the reason in the world to keep you away from me....even more reason because I care for you so much..."

"Maybe i am a little scared but maybe i'm more scared to be without you." Phil said as he looked at Kevin. "I l-love you, i don't think i can be without you." Phil looked away, "I know i'm stupid but, it hurt worse to be with out you then what they did to me."

Kevin closed his eyes and laid his cheek against Phil's. "Phil, you know I need to blood to live. Can you handle the knowledge that I have to hunt others to live?"

He turned his head and left light kisses to Phil's lips, tugging on the ring lightly as he smiled sadly.

Phil nodded, "I can, i know its what you have to do. I just wanna be with you" He said softly. He knew Kevin could never hurt him, it was something he just knew. Phil laced his fingers with Kevin's.

"If you really think you can handle it Phil, then...well it looks like you have a vampire at your beck and call."

Kevin took a deep breath, smiling for Phil's sake even though he knew how these type of connections ended. Stealing another kiss he nodded back to the bar, leaning down to whisper softly in Phils' ear.

"How about I go and tell them I'm leaving early and we'll go get some food, a bad movie and then we can go back to my place....or yours; either one. Doesn't matter as long as we can be alone for a bit."

Phil smiled softly and nodded, "Sounds really good Kev." He said softly. Phil watched as Kevin went into bar while he waited outside. He didn't notice there were eyes watching him as he waited for Kevin. He was to lost in a world of thought.

Kevin yelled over the bar to the swing shift bartender that he was leaving and ducked out before the big boss could grab him. He had enough clout that even though he would get a talking to he wouldn't suffer any consequences other than a light check.

Grabbing his leather coat he hurried back outside and took up the spot next to Phil's elbow, tapping him lightly when the Ravenette didn't seem to notice him standing there.

"Ready Phil? The night and I are yours."

Phil smiled and nodded before following Kevin from the alley. He was so happy right now, just being with Kevin.
Then suddenly two vampires jumped down in front of Kevin, "Hi Kev, who's your friend?" The smaller hyper vampire named Jay asked. Frankie the bigger vampire shook his head. "Sorry Thorn, Jay is a little hyper tonight and he wanted to say hi."

Kevin jumped and grabbed Phil close until he realized who it was. With a frown he shook his head at Jay.

"You of all people should know better than to do that." He turned and looked at Frankie. "tbis Phil my...uh...well I guess for lack of a better term, boyfriend....of the human bent as it were. So don't go getting any ideas."

Protectively, even though he knew two Vampires he wrapped his arm around Phil and held him close.

Phil relaxed in Kevin's arms as he looked at the two vampires. Jay looked down, "Sorry Thorn, did mean to startle you two." Jay then gave Phil a friendly smile. "Hi i'm Jay." Frankie smiled as well. "Frankie but you can call me Kaz." Phil smiled back shyly and curled a little closer to Kevin.

Kevin quirked his lips in a half skeptic frown. "I know you didn't. But you have to remember one time you do that I'm going to attack before thinking and you're going to get hurt. I tell you that each time you do it."

He felt Phil move closer to him so he tightened his hold, nodding to Frankie. He'd known the two Vampires for the past hundred years or so; not really long in the grand scheme of things but long enough to feel as if they were family. In fact the few times he moved they'd followed, 'to keep him out of trouble' was the reason, but really it was sense of family that had them staying close to one another.

"So what brings you two out on a night like this and how in the hell did you find me this time? I fiured you two would be searching LA for years trying to find out where I'd gone."

Frankie chuckled, "It only took a month for us to figure you have left LA, so we started traveling. We stop for a few months in this one town before heading to here. And we were inside the bar when you attacked that guy." Jay nodded, "Yeah and by the way your jump got way better since the last time."

Kevin rolled his eyes, his jump was a bone of contention for him. He didn't have the far reach that he'd seen other Vampires get when they jumped. He laughed sarcastically and shook his head.

"I should have known you'd figure it out sooner. I mean it's painfully obvious that Frankie was the one that all the brains out of the two of you." He jabbed back. "And I do hate to break up our reunion guys but Phil and I are on the way home. We're going to spend some..quiet time together."

He stressed the word 'quiet' and motioned with his head for them to leave, hoping that they'd take the hint and leave.

Jay pouted slightly at the jab and stuck his tongue out at Kevin. Frankie got the hint and nodded. "We should be going, Jay needs to feed. Later Thorn. Jay looked at Kevin, "We'll see you soon, right Kev?" He asked, they had really missed their friend.
